National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD:

NARSAD is an organization which was founded in 1986 from a coalition of four major US citizen's groups (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, National Mental Health Association, National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association and the Schizophrenia Research Foundation).

The mission of NARSAD is to raise, and distribute funds for scientific research into the causes, cures, treatments, and prevention of severe mental illnesses, primarily schizophrenia and depression.

This website provides excellent educational materials (in English and Spanish), an informative online newsletter, and a reliable reading list.

NARSAD is not staffed by medical physicians, but rather by knowledgeable staff members familiar with psychiatric diseases.
