The Virtual Hospital (VH) is a digital health sciences library launched in 1992 by the University of Iowa Health Care Centre in order to meet the information needs of health care providers and patients. The purpose of the VH digital library is to make the Internet a useful and accessible medical reference and serve as a health promotion tool for both health care providers and patients. The VH digital library contains hundreds of medical books and health care brochures. 

This top-notch site is highly recommended for both health care professionals and patients. The patient information pages are exceptionally excellent and used by me in my office. Only down side is that this site could use more graphics (but this may slow down access time).
